Re: Linux Support

@martinw89 I'm running with an ati radeon x300 on Ubuntu 10.04. I had the same problem you did with the exceptionally low frame rate. I solved this by upgrading my X server to Ubuntu's bleeding edge, and adding my normal user account to the video group. I'm not using proprietary drivers (I mean, I w...

Re: High FPS as root, low as user (linux)

I found my solution at askubuntu.com: http://askubuntu.com/questions/22993/wh ... nless-root

It was simple as adding my normal user account to the video group, ie: adduser jake video

Thanks all for the help here, it helped me ask better questions which helped me get the answer!

Re: High FPS as root, low as user (linux)

Yep, turns out normal user accounts aren't using the fancy drivers. I've got a thread open over at the Ubuntu forums, but if anyone around these parts has a suggestion, I'd love to hear it. I'll post back here once I've got it worked out. jake@daedalus:/home$ sudo glxinfo | grep "renderer strin...

Re: Can't install it on my Windows

Weird. I bought the HB2, and I'm running Osmos just fine on WinXP sp3 32bit. Have you tried comparing the md5sums? Sounds like your download might've borked, maybe just redownload.

Find an md5 checksummer if you don't already have one:

Re: Osmos Feedback

Fwiw, I agree with you devs about the difficulty settings. This isn't a game you need to complete (unless you're OCD), and I appreciate having the super difficult levels which I can't beat in a few tries. Anyway, I've been recommending this game to my friends, already have a few hooked on the demo. ...

Re: High FPS as root, low as user (linux)

BTW, love this game, impressed with how well it runs in linux and my ancient video card (despite needing root for the moment..). Bought it as part of the HumbleBundle. I'll be keeping an eye out on Hemisphere.

Anyhow, thanks in advance for any help!

High FPS as root, low as user (linux)

Problem : Osmos running under root averages 60 FPS. Osmos running under my normal user averages five seconds per frame judging by the time it takes the Hemisphere logo to fade in. I start the game using startx -- :1 and a custom .xinitrc (below). Hardware : Radeon x300 AMD Athlon 1.8 GHz 1.5 GB ram...
