Enable Wi-Fi to play online

Hi !

I recently upgraded Osmos HD on both my Android phone and my Android tablet.
I was able to play and enjoy the multiplayer mode on my tablet, unfortunately, I can't play it on my phone.

What happens on my phone is that once in the Multiplayer Menu, I can't select "Google Play Games" to look for other players because the button is disabled and the following is displayed on it : "Enable Wi-Fi to play online".

Of course Wi-Fi is enabled on my phone.
I tried several things to fix it :
  • Disable/Re-enable Wi-Fi
  • Clear data / cache from the application
  • Uninstall / Reinstall the application
  • Try from different Wi-Fi access point and Wi-Fi SSID
None of those tests fixed the issue.

Also I would like to indicate that I am able to Sign In with Google prior all that. So there is no problem with the Google Sign In. Moreover, my rank (Neophyte) and my wins (5) from the games I played on the tablet are being reported correctly in the multiplayer menu on the phone.

So for information here are the specs of my phone :
Motorola Atrix 4G
Android 2.3.4

I have the same but opposite problem. I can play fine on my phone (galaxy s3 on Jellybean 4.1.2) but on my tablet (htc EVO view on honeycomb 3.2.1) it can't detect the WiFi for gameplay, although although I can see and get achievement just fine !

Hi Styx, colonelheero,

Thanks for letting us know. We haven't been able to reproduce the problem here, but it sounds like we must have some wifi detection issues on certain devices. We're looking into it!

In the meantime, can you play local multiplayer? What happens when you tap on the "In the room" button?

Hi Eddybox,

Thank you for looking into that issue.

In my case, on my phone when I try to click on "In the room" button, a text message appear on the button that says "Local Multiplayer requires Android 3.0 or higher."
This sounds normal to me as my phone is running Android 2.3.4.

If you need any additional information, please let me know.

Eddybox,

The "In the Room" option is available, but when I click on it, it briefly show "Searching for players" then tell me "The World is Muted. It looks like you don't have Wi-Fi connection. Please connect to a Wi-Fi network in your device's setting"

Thanks for the info Styx & colonelheero!

We've found the problem (your feedback helped), and it is indeed in the way we're detecting network interfaces. Looks like things are reported quite differently on some Android devices! We're working on a fix and are hoping to have it out in the next couple of days. Stay tuned...

Thanks for your patience. We just pushed version 2.0.2 to Google Play which should fix this issue. Please let us know if you still have difficulties connecting to online multiplayer - the best way to reach us is typically via the email support address on the Google Play listing. Thanks again!
