Did the demo blow up your computer?
No sound?
Horrible frame rates?

Let us know and we'll try to fix it.

Hi.
I downloaded the demo from Steam.
I like the conceot but get terrible framerates especially on the menu page. The game itself only becomes playable if I set it to very low details.
I don't get a crash or anything, it's just painfully slow, the main page is just like a slideshow.
My computer isn't too shaby so I'd expect things to run smoothly.
Thanks for your help.

I can't download the new demo from hemispheregames.com

I click on the link http://www.hemispheregames.com/latest_osmos_demo
which redirects to http://www.hemispheregames.com/blog/wp- ... _1.5.6.exe
which returns Error 404 Page Not Found.

Thanks for your post, Jazz Ad.

What kind of graphics card do you have?

I'm thinking the problem might be because you're running Windows 7... have you tried playing Osmos in fullscreen (so that OS window manager doesn't hog the GPU)?

I'm puzzled to hear about your poor performance. We've paid very close attention to having Osmos playable on as many hardware configurations as possible! We've tested the game on lots of low-end configs, and the framerates are perfectly playable on business notebooks, Macs running PC emulators, etc. To give you an example, I do the vast majority of my Osmos dev work from a low-end laptop with on-board Intel graphics (ie a low-performance graphics implementation) specifically to keep a handle on performance! ;-)

Yes I run the game in fullscreen.
My graphic card is an ATI HD3870 with 512 Mb of memory.
It's quite common and can run quite demanding games like Assassin's Creed without an issue.
Let me know if you need any other info.

Like Wilba, I also can't download the demo. It's something on your end, obviously, becasue of the 404 error. I don't have access to Steam, so I can't get it from there.

I sugget you try to fix this error as fast as possible, or many potential customers may be turned off.

The demo ran fine until I got to S12 and then it locked up. I had to close it. I restarted later and I can play the other levels, but it locks up when I just start with S10 (artificial life) or when I progress to S12.

Sorry 'bout that folks, technical glitch! All should be well now.

kajaco2, thanks for your bug report. We haven't heard of this issue before. Can you please navigate to Documents/OsmosDemo and send a copy of Osmos.sta to daveburke@hemispheregames.com ?

Thanks,
Dave

After trying to reinstall from Steam and suffering the same issues, I downloaded the demo directly from your site.
It installed, then Windows 7 told me that the game may not have been properly installed and proposed to reinstall with recommended parameters. It didn't tell me what they were though.
I agreed, install ran again and now I have a working demo without slowdowns. So the issue is with the Steam version only.
