Thanks for your post Klaste. So when you run in windowed mode, you can't see anything at all, only a grey screen?

When Osmos is running in fullscreen, it should use whatever refresh rate you've set in your display settings. Can you try playing with your display settings (refresh rate, etc), then restart Osmos into fullscreen to see if this helps?

Thanks!
Dave

Tried messing with refresh rate etc. I'm actually running dual monitors, and one monitor is completely different - so I've tried using only one, changing the res and refresh, swapping to the other, changing res and refresh, etc., to the same effect. I still think it's an issue with Windows 7 x64, but I don't know why that would do it. I just know I saw someone in the alpha demo support forum had the same issue: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2&start=10#p78 . I also found someone having the issue on the steam forum: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/s ... p?t=944111

*edit* Okay, you know that scrolling bar I mentioned? Well, I was messing around with the steam version of the demo, and I had my overlay opened.. I had a couple windows stacked on top of each other. The refresh rate effected the overlay as well, and the weird part was it was some sort of transparency thing - cause as it scrolled over the opened windows, I was able to see windows stacked under the top window. I wish I could get you a video..

I'm also getting multiple seconds per frame. I'm on Vista 64-bit.

@ TheBladeRonen: if you launch the game with the nosound option (as per the Osmos FAQ), do you have any luck?

@ almo: Can you please describe in greater detail what you're seeing? Does the game crash unless you run with no sound? Or is the game starting up fine but you just don't have any sound? Can you please post or have a look at the contents of your Osmos.log file (in the Osmos directory of your Documents folder)?

Thanks,
Dave

Hello

I have a wierd problem. i have finished the demo but would like to replay because this game is nice to relax with.

the problem is that now when i go to the game and try to start up a level i get a screen flash that shows a sort of menu saying there is an update, and then behind that i can see the "you finished the game" advertisement and there are choices to update or not, but then it disappears almost instantly and then the main menu changes. it seems that when i move my mouse the menu and the update menu flash back and forth, really anoying, and i cant get anything to work.

i dont understand why steam hasnt automatically updated the game, that how i have it set, and because i thought maybe it would help i removed the game and tried to install it again. that didnt help. i also went in to the config file in the mydocuments folder and changed all the update options to 0.

the only thing i didnt do when i reinstalled was kill the mydocuments osmos folder. i will change the directory name as to back it up but hide it from the install, but i dont think this will help. before i do here is the contents of hte log file:

wow

i uninstalled, moved the original osmos folder in mydocuments and reinstalled. i went into the default.cfg and changed the options for updates, then started the game again through steam. still no luck. something is really garbled for me.

i will say this, i may need to update my video drivers. i cant do that until i am finished a video project. that may be a couple of days. all my other things are up to date. if you have any ideas let me know.

Hi DawnTreader,

Editing defaults.cfg isn't the best thing to do, because these are the default settings that the game will run with. Instead, you should be modifying the settings in Config.cfg located in the Osmos directory of your Documents folder.

If you completely uninstall the Steam Demo, then reinstall it, does the demo behave correctly?

Oh, and if you'd like to continue enjoying the game, may I suggest that you <ahem> purchase the full version? :D

Thanks,
Dave

I have just downloaded and run Osmos Demo, but I have two problems:

- no sound
- very bad flickering

The speed is fine, however. I am on Windows 7 RC x64, on a late 2008 MacBook Pro unibody. Any tips? I like the game a lot, and the video was great, but I don't want to buy until I resolve these issues, obviously.

ADDENDUM: I managed to get the sound to work. I reinstalled Osmos, as someone else suggested, and rebooted the machine to clear things up. The flickering/banding remains.
