If someone could help with this issue

Postby General Hacker » Sun Aug 23, 2009 10:09 am

Just purchased Omose game thru STEAM. I have many STEAM games that all work. However, this game seems to be giving me a glitch. I click on the icon to start the game and it asks if I want to run it in full screen mode, I say yes. It then goes to a still screen that says it is loading sound and it just sits there. Nothing more happens. I have tried it in a seperate window to check my firewall and it still just sits there loading some sound but never gets any further.

I am XP home sp3
Dual core 3.10 with a Palit video card 9600gt at 1000mgs of on board mem.
Soundblaster audigy 2 sound card.

Plenty of juice in all the other areas as well.

Any ideas?? :x :?:

Hi General Hacker,

A few things to try:

1. It's most likely your video driver, or perhaps your version of OpenAL. Check our FAQ here: http://www.hemispheregames.com/faq/
2. Check the log at <your user>\My Documents\Osmos\Osmos.log for anything suspicious. If in doubt, post your latest run here for advice.

Thanks,
Eddy

No luck with that.

The only thing now is the video drivers.

Hi GeneralHacker,

From your log file, it looks like a problem with sound. If you start the game with the nosound option as described on the FAQ page, does the game startup correctly? Also, if you could please navigate to this page and run the ALCapsViewer, what does it report for your video hardware?

Thanks,
Dave

OK, game does play when i disable sound with the "nosound" command.

And here is the ALcapsviewer report:

I should note that I am running a creative Audigy2 sound card as well. I believe it to have the latest drivers that they have at this time since this card has seen better days now, but it still works with ALL ohter games.

So, I had to download and install the latest and greatest drivers from Creative to get this working.

seems to work now but i am only getting stereo sound and not CMSS 7.1 which is what should be coming out.

Oh well, game works and is pretty interesting so far.

Regards,

Warren

Glad to hear things are working with the driver update, General Hacker!

I'd assume that you're only hearing stereo rather than 7.1 because our sound sources are all stereo.

Enjoy the game!
