Downloaded the demo but when I run it all I get is the music (great) and a black screen with the cursor.

OS X 10.6.7
iMac 24" 3.06 GHz

sorry for the lateness of my reply. And now, I will answer your question with some questions.
Does Osmos work in Windowed mode? Do you have multiple monitors? Are you running Osmos from the .dmg or did you drag it into your Applications folder?

why is it that i cannot download the trial version from the link on the macupdate page?

instead i am forced into the mac app store?

if there isn't a trial version, then the link shouldn't be available for 'download trial'

As for MacUpdate, we've spoken with our contact there and they've already updated their links.
