Windows 7

Postby qworn » Fri Aug 21, 2009 1:16 pm

So I brought this with an impulse on steam on windows 7 RC. It doesn't seem to work. I'm guessing its not supported yet but I kinda wrongly assumed if it works on vista it will work on 7. Or is it just me? I see a short logo loading screen then it crashes.

I haven't run into any issues myself, using Windows 7 Ultimate RC x64. I've also seen some posts regarding sound issues in Windows 7, but again, no issues here on either my X-Fi XtremeMusic sound card or the onboard Realtek HDA audio chipset.

Just thought I'd register to give my support for this game - I did purchase it.

Running with a Radeon 4850 by XFX, Catalyst driver version 9.7, and Windows 7 RC x64... I have no issues either. Also tried in the same OS on a system with crummy GMA950 Intel graphics and despite a diminished frame rate, it's still playable and stable.

One of the most pleasantly bug-free experiences I've had, I must say. Some of the later orbit levels where you're REALLY small are bloody annoying though, and take far too long!

I too am having problems with windows 7, I tried a number of compatiblity modes. What i am experiencing is that the game starts, i get the blue/green screen with the ameba thingy. at the bottom it says "loading sounds..." and then nothing happes. it just hangs.
anyone else get this as well.

Running fine on my Win7 Enterprise install on an IBM T60. Lots of drivers are probably lagging for Win7 though.

I am having the same problem. It starts up, shows me the backdrop and 'loading sounds' but then really nothing. If it wait long (10+ mins), then some sound starts and i can see the title fading in realllllly slowly.

Tried updating OpenAL. Updated Catalyst to 9.8

Win 7 x32 , Radeon X1600 , 1.5G ram, steam

@ seedy, tyb, qworn: Can you have a look at the Osmos.log (in the Osmos directory in your Documents folder) to see if anything is reported there? Also, please have a look at the FAQ and try out the steps described there -- any luck?

Thanks!
Dave

I was having no luck with the official ATI driver.

I tried out this modified driver and it's working fine now
