Osmos on netbook?

Postby stranded » Wed Nov 25, 2009 2:56 pm

Hey I have this little baby here:

I've got the M version. Anyway Osmos runs fine on my stationary machine and won't run on the netbook:

I've tried reinstalling OpenAL and Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Libraries (both 2005 and 2008)

Hi stranded,

Could you post your log file here please? It's at My Documents\Osmos\Osmos.log.

Thanks!

Thanks stranded. We've put great effort into ensuring the game runs on netbooks -- in fact, my primary dev machine is a business laptop with onboard graphics!

Can you please verify that your motherboard, sound and video drivers are all up-to-date?

Also, so that we can be certain that sound is the trouble: does the Osmos run issue-free if launched with "nosound" on the command line?

Thanks,
Dave

It works flawlessly without sound!

How can I get sound though? I have all drivers always up-to-date - checking ASUS or Chip/Hardware websites from time to time.

The sound chipset is just Realtek HD Audio (the same as on my desktop PC but on there it works without any problem, same driver version).

Hi stranded,

Thanks for the update. Good to know for sure that it's a sound issue.
We're looking into a potential fix and I'd like to send you an executable to try out. Could you mail me at webmaster@<this domain> please? I'll send it to you as an email attachment.

Thanks,
Eddy
