July 19, 2012: Introducing Osmos Multiplayer!

Canada (July 19, 2012) – Hemisphere Games today announced a major addition to their award-winning game Osmos: Multiplayer! Reception for the iOS versions have always been phenomenal (#1 Top Paid in many countries, Apple Design Award and “iPad Game of the Year”, etc.), and so Hemisphere invested a lot of time and effort in bringing this new game mode to iOS. (Other platforms may follow.) This is a free update to the game, and includes 6 distinct arenas in which players can play against each other – both locally and online – in a mote-eat-mote absorption-fest of skill and strategy.

This update also includes iPad Retina support, Twitter integration, and many more audio/visual improvements.

About Osmos: Osmos is an ambient-physics game where – in order to survive – players must absorb smaller organisms and grow. It is both a strong, strategic arcade game, as well as a unique experience unto itself, with stellar graphics and a hypnotic ambient soundtrack. Osmos has now been brought to iOS and Android in addition to PC, Mac, and Linux; and it has garnered amazing awards and recognition from many sources — including Apple, the IGF, Wired, IGN, IndieCade, Macworld, CreateDigitalMusic, and many more.

★ NEW MULTIPLAYER FEATURES ★

  • Play against your friends and enemies, locally (via wi-fi or Bluetooth), or over the Internet (via Game Center).
  • 6 distinct Arenas: Ambient, Impasse, Solar, Warped Chaos, Epicycles, and introducing… Antimatter Impasse.
  • iPad vs. iPhone play supported (local games only)
  • Optional handicap system to keep competition friendly.

Osmos features:

  • 72 levels spanning 8 distinct worlds: Ambient, Antimatter, Solar, Sentient, Repulsor, Impasse, Warped Chaos, and Epicycles.
  • Full Retina support.
  • Award-winning electronic soundtrack by Loscil, Gas, High Skies, Biosphere, Julien Neto, and more.
  • Seamlesss multitouch controls: swipe to warp time, tap anywhere to eject mass, pinch to zoom…
  • Endless replay value: play random versions of any level in Arcade mode.
  • Time-warping: slow down the flow of time to outmaneuver agile opponents; speed it up to raise the challenge.
  • Confront four distinct AI opponents: the Ovarium, the Biophobe, the Nemocyte… and the deadly Ferax.
  • Earn 13 single-player and 15 multiplayer achievements, with Game Center integration.
