No it doesn't work :|

Check my flickering at youtube:

I got Vista Home Premium 32 bit (and Windows 7 rc 64 bit), P5QL-Pro, Intel Dual Core e8400 and Ati HD3870.

Thanks for the video jachy. You're having the fullscreen flicker problem on both OSes, but for the record, was that vidcaptured under 32bit Vista or on Windows7 rc 64bit?

You mentioned Fraps was reporting a framerate of only 4Hz, but the framerate looked higher than that in your video... Can you press Alt+F1 in Osmos to enable the in-game counter?

Does the flicker problem exist in maximised fullscreen?

When Osmos runs fullscreen, it uses the default display settings of the primary monitor. Do you find that the flicker goes away if you shutdown Osmos, change the display settings (refresh rate, etc) of your display in Windows Graphics Properties, then relaunch Osmos?

Thanks,
Dave

Problem solved! :D Thanks!

I changed colour depth from 32 bit to 16 bit. That did the trick. It's not big deal to change the depth before playing, so this solution suits me.

Alt-f1 showed 10 fps when fullscreen.

With 32 bit colours, game works with maximized window.

Thanks jacky, glad this works for you! Instead of changing your display settings, you can force Osmos to run in 16 bits by setting the value of the displayDepth variable in the Osmos config file (Config.cfg, in the Osmos directory of your Documents folder). Force 16 bits by setting the value of the displayDepth variable to:

displayDepth "16"

FYI, another player named SpencerS found that updating his drivers fixed the flickering for him.

Flickering problem is fixed with latest NVidia Forceware 190.62 drivers from laptopvideo2go. Earlier drivers would have probably cured it too...seems the driver on the laptop was a bit older than i thought :P

The problem wasn't really about colour depth. Modification in config.cfg didn't do the trick.

When I changed colour depth in windows settings it changed also my font DPI to normal (96 DPI). I normally use 144 DPI (150%) which doesn't work with Osmos when running in fullscreen. I tried to change it to 120 DPI (125%), but that didn't work either. For some reason, changing colour depth to 16 bit, changes also DPI to normal.

Bug in windows solved my bug in Osmos...?

I have newest ATI drivers.

Interesting jachy! So if you change your colour depth back to 32bits, and then revert the DPI setting to 96, does the problem go away for you then too?

Thanks,
Dave

Yes, that's correct.

I think that demo version worked with larger DPI, but I'm not sure.

Interesting, jachy, thanks. If you still have the Osmos demo installed, would you mind just checking to see if it suffers from the same problem? (I would expect that it does...) I've tried to reproduce the issue on my machine, but the game runs fine if I switch Windows to a non-standard DPI.

Thanks!

I installed demo again and tested. It bugged also.

Strange. It worked before. I had changed DPI before I installed demo at first time. Well.. i can live with this ;)

Thanks for the great game! Keep up the good work!

I've got to tell you, guys (because it isn't said enough) that this is one of the best tech support threads I've ever seen. You directly respond to customers having issues, you take their input seriously, you set expectations appropriately and then follow through... I may buy the game AGAIN, just so I can give you another $10!

Seriously, VERY well done. A great game and great support... the "big" boys could learn some things from you!
