Re: Osmos Demo Feedback
I guess the beta demo conists more levels than alpha.

Re: Osmos Demo Feedback
The "real" demo (as opposed to the "alpha") will be available very soon.
It contains the same levels that the alpha demo had (with minor tweaks), but has the new visuals, menu system, orbit visualization, etc. of the full release.
That said, the full version has advanced a lot since last December...

Re: Osmos Demo Feedback
Hey Dave,
I just finished the demo (I've been too busy to play it much) and it left me wanting more. The visuals were amazing, as was the soundtrack, and the gameplay was just as good.
However, the ability to slow down time didn't really help me much, as the game's pace is really chill as it is: slowing down time wasn't really necessary. Speeding up time, however, was extremely useful at points where i didn't have much juice left in the tank, but also didn't want to wait for hours before i finally got to my destination. I coasted on one mouse click until i got big enough to move safely again, and I didn't have to wait for ages.
Overall, the demo was great, though short, and i can't wait to play the full game.

Re: Osmos Demo Feedback
Hey Patrick,
Thanks for your feedback! So glad to hear you enjoyed the game
Regarding your comments about time slowdown/speedup:
The general philosophy behind time speedup/slowdown is that the player can tweak the chillout/challenge knob to whatever setting they're happy with. It's like a 'mood' dial, or a 'dynamic difficulty adjustment' dial.
You're right on that speeding up time is a great thing to do when you're running low on fuel, or when you'd like a little 'help' with being patient
As for time slowdown, it's true that many players may not need the slowdown in the demo (with the possible exception of the level where you're hunting down the single Biophobe), but I can assure you that in the full game, time slowdown will be a big help for some of the more challenging zones.

Re: Osmos Demo Feedback
Hmm, should we interpret the "very soon" as in, some day before the release or a matter of minutes?

Re: Osmos Demo Feedback
Just downloaded and played through the new demo. I thought it was brilliant! The game seems to flow much better and the updated graphics give the game a nicer finish which adds to the ambient experience. I thought that the speed adjustment (using ctl+mouse wheel) is a great addition. Also, I think I saw it mentioned somewhere else, the idea of a level editor would be an awesome addition (maybe in a future version?). Thanks again for the experience.
Just pre-purchased from the main page and eagerly await the full release.

Re: Osmos Demo Feedback
Thanks for the great comments all! Yes, a level editor is most certainly on our radar for future release...
